GO GREEN Challenge Winners
For the entire month of April, YouthNoise was proud to host the Go Green Personal Sustainability Challenge, where NOISEmakers were asked to show us how they combat global warming. The contest is now over, and we are very proud of the results. After sorting through all of the entries and making some very difficult decisions, we are pleased to announce the winners!

In addition to our eight random drawing winners (who each received a $100 Timberland Gift Certificate), we chose one first place winner from each of the four categories: Reducing Energy Consumption, Conserving Resources, Reducing Toxic Chemical Consumption, and Reforestation. Each first prize winner will receive an $800 prize. From these four winners, one person was chosen as the grand prize winner and will receive an additional $800 to donate to a charity of his or her choice. The first place winners of the YouthNoise Go Green Challenge are…drum roll, please…

Car Washing Goes Green by Going Waterless
By LeDude, 25, NH

What's it about?
This video shows how 'waterless' car washing is a great alternative to the traditional soap & bucket method. The video features Eco Touch, a non-toxic, biodegradable, and petrochemical-free waterless car wash.

How does your video demonstrate your commitment to the environment?
Washing your car at home can use between 80 - 140 gallons of water. This water is contaminated with harmful run-off including harsh detergents, brake dust, gasoline, etc which affects both human and aquatic life. By going 'waterless' you help to preserve & conserve our water supplies.
Energy
Released
By Architorturefilm, 25, CA

What's it about?
Released dramatically utilizes a balloon as the representation for the carbon dioxide emissions an average consumer uses per day.

Reforestation
One Tree
By jano2ab, 20, CA

What's it about?
A video I made on campus using a variety of trees to make one tree.

How does your video demonstrate your commitment to the environment?
Commitment to the environment begins with appreciation to our environment. Without understanding the purpose and importance of our trees and forests, we will never be to fully commit to the reforestation effort. This video is a self-reflection we must do to commit to our environment.

Green is the New Black
By BonBon, 17, TX

I am passionate about a lot of issues but have never been much of an environmentalist. I decided to try out YouthNoise’s “Go Green” challenge and share with all of you my challenges and successes while trying to live in a more eco-friendly way. This week I took on the challenge to eat organic, watch out for the dirty dozen and clean green…
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who participated in the challenge. Congratulations bonbon, jano2ab, and Architorturefilm! And a special congratulations goes to LeDude for winning the grand prize! LeDude has decided to donate his $800 charity prize to Surfrider Foundation USA, a grassroots based non-profit that works to protect the oceans, waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education.

We hope this contest has inspired you to do your part in combating global warming in your daily activities. Remember, too, that change starts with you. So don’t just stand there…be heard!
