Submitted By: Website: www.takebackthetap.org Submitted on: 10/28/2008 Goals: -Fight for universal access to clean, affordable water.Keep water a public resource rather than a commodity that is sold off to the highest bidder. -Protect our drinking water sources by protecting our watersheds from pollution -Raise awareness and build a movement of water activists nationally and in NYCObjectives: -Empower students to start Take Back the Tap campaigns on their campuses by giving them information to distribute, and helping them to strategically push for change in their communities. -Expose the marketing myths of the bottled water industry and educate NYC consumers about why drinking tap water is better for their health, the environment, and their pocketbook. -Build a coalition of activists, organizations, and institutions to pressure the federal government to enact legislation to protect and conserve water and provide communities water - Get hundreds of restaurants and other businesses to sign our pledge to phase out the sale of bottled water. -Educate New Yorkers about our tap water system and about how to be good water stewardsCauses: Clean Water, Combating Global Warming!, DROP- The Community, Help your community, Take Back the Tap |
