I am from Yorba Linda, CA. Aside from being the birthplace of Richard Nixon and the stupidly self-proclaimed "Land of Gracious Living," were are just an average Orange County suburb. We have hot moms, SUVS, Bro's, 78 hand car washes, and chain restaurants galore. You can imagine my shock on Sunday morning when I was walking through JFK airport in NYC and saw Yorba Linda identified on CNN. I was just finding out that Yorba Linda was in serious jeapordy from wildfires. I think wildfires are a part of the Southern California Deal. In exchange for earthquakes, wildfires, traffic, and shallow people you get perfect weather, unlimited entertainment options, In-N-Out, and beautiful people. Oh and the Lakers. I have loved the deal my whole life, but sitting in my car, watching the ashes fall from the sky as fire surged towards my house changed everything. My house didn't burn down, we were very fortunate; hundreds of others weren't. SoCal is looking like a bad deal these days. Still better than crappy NorCal though.
